Dating Application to Cure Anxiety

I’m not really a fan of dating apps. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer deeper conversation face to face. Also, I’m too lazy to compose a message, I think conversations are not smooth compared to face-to-face talk, and it feels impersonal and much conversation can be lost in translation.

And here I am, using one.

Why I downloaded Tinder? Well first, I’m bored. But mainly, I get really stressed out being surrounded by people. Since COVID hit, I barely go out of the house and I feel like I forgot how to talk to other people. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful I have my family with me during this time, but I am tired of interacting with the same people every day.

Yesterday, I went out to buy groceries with my mom, and I felt like standing in the store being judged. It was also uncomfortable for me to talk and smile at strangers. So yes, I downloaded Tinder to help me with this anxiety. Baby steps, right?

It is my third day using the application, and honestly, I’m not sure how to feel about it. There’s progress though. I remember on my first day, I was all over the place, I don't know what to say and how to respond. But now, it’s much easier. Everyone was kind, but I’m still figuring out how to converse as smoothly as before.

My friends used to tell me to download a dating app and I never tried until now. I hate phone conversations, so I was pretty sure I will hate a dating app as well. And look at me now, using Tinder to help me with my anxiety.

I will only use Tinder for one week. After that, I have to step up my game a little bit. Maybe compliment a stranger or ask for a direction. Baby steps.
